Sports Mole

Barcelona will be aiming to return to winning ways when they take on Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Hansi Flick's side saw their 100% start to the La Liga campaign come to an end on Saturday evening, suffering a shock 4-2 defeat to Osasuna, but they remain at the top of the table.

The Catalan giants are under pressure to pick up a positive result against Young Boys, having suffered a 2-1 defeat to Monaco in their opening match of the new-look Champions League.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Young Boys, who were beaten 3-0 by Aston Villa in their Champions League opener.

Dani Olmo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona will be without the services of Olmo for at least another couple of weeks due to the hamstring problem that he suffered during the team's 4-1 success over Girona.

Ronald Araujo

Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Araujo will be on the sidelines until the latter stages of this year due to the hamstring operation that he underwent in the middle of July.

Frenkie de Jong

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: October 1 (vs. Young Boys)

De Jong is now in the final stages of his recovery from a long-term ankle problem, and there is a chance that the Netherlands international could be back against Young Boys in the Champions League.

Gavi

Possible return date: Unknown

Gavi continues to recover from the serious knee injury that he suffered while representing Spain towards the end of last year, but he is expected to be available before the end of 2024.

Andreas Christensen

Status: Out
Type of injury: Achilles
Possible return date: November 6 (vs. Red Star Belgrade)

Christensen remains on the treatment table with an Achilles problem, and it is understood that the Denmark international will not be available until the start of November.

Marc Bernal

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Bernal suffered an ACL injury against Rayo Vallecano in the league earlier this season, and he is now expected to miss the remainder of the campaign.

Fermin Lopez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: October 20 (vs. Sevilla)

Fermin suffered a fresh thigh problem during a recent training session, and the Spain international will be on the sidelines for at least another couple of weeks.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona will be missing their number one goalkeeper Ter Stegen for the remainder of the season due to the serious knee injury that he suffered in the 5-1 win over Villarreal on September 22.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Eric Garcia

Status: Out
Possible return date: October 6 (vs. Alaves)

Eric Garcia will miss out for Barcelona on Tuesday night due to the red card that he picked up in the team's 2024-25 European opener with Monaco.
