Mikel Arteta has targeted Champions League glory as a means of lifting the spirits of trophy-hungry fans.
Speaking ahead of today's last 16 draw, the Spanish midfielder said that Gunners fans deserve a lift after a difficult season.
"The club has gone through a lot in the last couple of months, the fans have been disappointed and need something to look forward to," Arteta said.
"We won't forget about the Premier League but the Champions League can provide that extra something that gives everyone a lift."
Arsenal will be hoping to avoid seven-time Champions League winners AC Milan and Ligue 1 giants Lyon when the draw is made in Nyon this morning.
