Arsenal produce a flourish in the final 25 minutes to beat Everton 4-1 and progress to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Arsenal have booked their place in the FA Cup semi-finals with a 4-1 win over Everton this afternoon.

After a quite even game, the Gunners punished Everton in the final stages, with substitute Olivier Giroud scoring twice in a minute.

Mesut Ozil put the hosts ahead after just seven minutes, collecting Santi Cazorla's though-ball and firing into the bottom corner.

The game continued in end-to-end fashion with Arsenal striking the post after a mistake by goalkeeper Joel Robles, before Everton equalised half-an-hour in. Ross Barkley's burst down the right ended with a cross to the back post, where Kevin Mirallas somehow missed but Romelu Lukaku couldn't, making it 1-1.

Everton missed an excellent chance to take the lead nine minutes into the second half when Lukaku broke free before squaring the ball to Barkley, who curled his effort over the crossbar.

The missed proved costly shortly afterwards when Gareth Barry brought down the lively Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the box. Mikel Arteta made no mistake with the penalty, but was forced to retake it when Giroud was penalised for encroachment. This time he went the other way, but still beat the goalkeeper to give his side the lead.

Arsenal turned up the heat after that, scoring a third when Bacary Sagna's cross beat the Everton defence and allowed Giroud to tap the ball home, then adding a fourth in similar fashion after some nice build-up play around the box.
