Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has suffered an injury blow after tearing a muscle while training with the Chile national team.
The 27-year-old has been a key component in Arsene Wenger's team this season, having scored eight goals and producing six assists since the campaign kicked off in August.
The Gunners finished 10 points behind champions Leicester City in the Premier League last season, but they have emerged as early contenders this time around following an unbeaten run of 10 top-flight games.
There are fears that Arsenal's campaign could hit a snag, though, after Sanchez was sent for tests after feeling pain during this morning's training session with his national side.
A statement from the Chilean team confirmed that Sanchez has a "low grade muscular injury" and will remain in Santiago to undergo treatment.
Sanchez is now a doubt for Chile's World Cup qualifier against Colombia on Thursday, and depending on the severity of the injury, the 27-year-old could miss Arsenal's vital matches against Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
