Germany boss Joachim Low has confirmed that Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi suffered a thigh muscle injury in the win over Azerbaijan and is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The 25-year-old lasted just 36 minutes of Die Mannschaft's World Cup qualifying clash on Sunday night before being replaced by Matthias Ginter.
Mustafi was clutching the back of his right leg as he was helped off the field and down the tunnel, seemingly causing the damage with nobody around him.
Low expects the centre-back to be out of action for the foreseeable future, telling reporters: "With Mustafi it seems that it is some muscle tear or some muscle fibre tear. In any case it could force him to a longer break."
Germany scored four second-half goals to win the game 5-1 in Kaiserslautern, giving them a perfect record of 10 wins from 10 in World Cup qualifying.
