Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has ruled central midfielder Francis Coquelin out of Wednesday's League Cup third-round match against Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old suffered a knee injury in Arsenal's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday, but Wenger is hopeful that it will only be "a short-term problem" for the Frenchman.
"Francis Coquelin will be out and we have no major problems for anybody else. It should be a similar squad," Wenger told the club's official website.
"His knee is swollen and he is being assessed but we hope it is just a short-term problem."
German centre-back Per Mertesacker, however, has been passed fit for the Gunners, who will be looking to recover from back-to-back defeats.
