Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for Thursday's EFL Cup fourth round clash with Arsenal at Anfield.

Liverpool will be looking to make it two home wins over Arsenal in the space of four days when the two sides quickly renew hostilities in the EFL Cup on Thursday night.

A place in the quarter-finals is up for grabs as Liverpool welcome the Gunners to Anfield looking for a repeat of Monday night's 3-1 win in the league meeting between the two sides.

The contest is a repeat of last season's fourth-round tie almost exactly to the day, which ended in an incredible 5-5 draw before Liverpool won on penalties.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Jurgen Klopp could set his side up for the contest.

Out: Jordan Henderson (thigh), Thiago Alcantara (coronavirus), Joel Matip (unspecified), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee)
Doubtful: None

The starting XI which takes to the field on Thursday is likely to be vastly different - perhaps even entirely different - to the one which started the game between the same two clubs on Monday.

Virgil van Dijk was the only player to keep his place for the previous round against Lincoln City, and he was taken off at half time in that match when victory was already all but assured.

With Joe Gomez now fit, he may be the centre-back kept on this time around with Klopp keen to keep his star men fresh, while Sepp van den Berg will be hoping for a chance alongside him after missing out to Rhys Williams against Lincoln.

Other changes from the seven-goal haul at the LNER Stadium may be few and far between given the standard of the performance, with two-goal duo Curtis Jones and Takumi Minamino in particular standing out.

Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Marko Grujic were also on the scoresheet and will hope to keep their places as a result, while youngsters Harvey Elliott and Neco Williams could be given another chance to impress.

Kostas Tsimikas is set to replace Andrew Robertson on the left, while Adrian will take the gloves from Alisson Becker after the Brazilian passed a late fitness test to feature on Monday.

Thiago Alcantara emerged as a doubt ahead of that game and is now not expected back until after the international break having tested positive for coronavirus, but fellow summer signing Diogo Jota is available after opening his account to wrap up the points for Liverpool on Monday.

Thursday's contest is likely to come too soon for Jordan Henderson to return, though, while Joel Matip and former Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also sidelined.
