Good evening! Thank you for joining Sports Mole for what promises to be a thrilling match between Arsenal and Liverpool!

There have been some classic matches between these two sides in recent years. Remember Liverpool's 4-2 triumph over the Gunners in the Champions League? And who could forget Andrei Arshavin's four-goal show at Anfield? You can relive the latter below.

Today could be shaping up to be a special night as well. Both sides are in decent goalscoring form going into this one. Liverpool have recorded 5-0, 4-0 and 3-0 wins recently, while Arsenal have also found the net regularly. In fact, in both of these side's last outings, they scored five times.

Since then, though, the two sides have had contrasting fortunes. Arsenal progressed in the FA Cup courtesy of a 3-2 win away to Brighton, while Liverpool fell to an embarrassing 3-2 defeat to Oldham.

That loss came at a gutting time for Liverpool as they had begun to show some consistency in their performances, with Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez linking up well and only a narrow defeat to Manchester United upsetting a run of Premier League wins that has lifted them to seventh in the table.

Whether or not such a defeat will benefit Arsenal tonight remains to be seen. You can be sure that the Reds will be eager to respond to the loss, but Arsenal will be thinking that they have Liverpool at a good time. If Oldham can beat an almost full-strength Liverpool side, the Gunners will be confident of doing the same.

Arsenal are in pretty good form themselves. Their only league losses since December 1 have come against Manchester City and Chelsea, and they were ruthless in their 5-1 win over West Ham a week ago.

Olivier Giroud has also started to find the net on a regular basis, and Liverpool will have to be aware of the threat that both he and Theo Walcott pose today. Jack Wilshere is also a threat coming forward as he begins to rediscover his best form.

Wilshere will be coming up against his idol in the centre of midfield today, however. A rejuvenated Steven Gerrard has been the heartbeat for Liverpool so far this season, providing more assists than anyone else in the league. Of course, he needs someone to finish those chances off, and Luis Suarez has proved more than adept at doing that. The Uruguayan has terrorised defences so far this season, and he will be looking to do more damage tonight.

So, no real surprises in the Arsenal side but what about that Liverpool team? Skrtel, Sterling, Allen and Borini all drop to the bench, while Pepe Reina replaces Brad Jones, who must shoulder some of the responsibility for the loss to Oldham. Enrique had been in contention to start following an injury, but he only makes the bench as Rodgers opts for the likes of Carragher, Henderson and Downing. Sturridge and Suarez remain up front together.

Liverpool's main point of attack will no doubt be Suarez again, and it will be interesting to see how the likes of Mertesacker cope with the Uruguayan. Mertesacker is slow and sluggish, but strong, while Suarez - and Sturridge for that matter - are fast and tricky. In Suarez's case, few players in world football can match his close control and dribbling.

In the same way, Liverpool will have to be wary of Giroud aerial ability. Skrtel - arguably the most dominant aerial presence in their squad - has been left on the bench and while Carragher and Agger are no slouches in the air, Giroud will fancy his chances. Walcott will also be looking to use his pace to great effect tonight. Johnson and Wisdom have their fair share of speed, but nothing on Walcott and if he comes up against Carragher in a one-on-one, there is only going to be one winner.

Off the pitch, Liverpool secured the signing of Philippe Coutinho earlier today but he won't play any part tonight.

Arsenal have had the better of this fixture in recent times: Liverpool have only beaten the Gunners once in the last 10 meetings, and have only beaten them once in the league since 2007.

Overall, however, Liverpool just edge it. The two sides have met 178 times with Liverpool coming out on top 66 times, while Arsenal have won 65.

Liverpool, however, are yet to beat a team in the top half of the league this season. That is a record that they will have to change if they want to push for Champions League football, and tonight would be a perfect time to do just that.

Here's a quick reminder of what a win for either side would mean tonight. Arsenal could move into fifth, one point behind Spurs depending on the results in Everton's match and Tottenham's match. Liverpool, meanwhile, would move level on points with Arsenal with a win, and could put themselves one point behind their own local rivals Everton, again depending on that result.

Arsenal haven't been in great form at home so far this season. They have picked up 20 points from their 11 matches at the Emirates, but have tasted defeat three times.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have struggled for consistency away from home. They have just 13 points on their travels this season, winning three, drawing four and losing four of their 11 away games.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers: "We were very disappointed (by the Oldham defeat) but I didn't want it to overcast what we've done in the last couple of months and I want to move forward again. I will take the blame for the defeat at the weekend."

Right, we're 10 minutes from kickoff in this one, which means it's time for our prediction! I can see goals in this one tonight, and either side could win it. Arsenal are definately the favourites, but I think the spoils will be shared. I'm going for a 2-2 draw.

Arsenal have conceded first on a few occasions recently, forcing them to come from behind to get anything out of the game, and Wenger will be keen to ensure that it doesn't happen again tonight.

Even if they do, however, they will back themselves to get a goal back. The front three of Giroud, Podolski and Walcott were in sparkling form against West Ham in their last Premier League outing.

It will be interesting to see what sort of match we will have tonight. Neither have a reputation for scrappy affairs, and an open match would probably suit both sides. If the likes of Walcott and Cazorla get space they can do some serious damage, and the same applies for Suarez and Sturridge.

Daniel Sturridge has scored in both of his Liverpool Premier League matches so far. Can he keep that impressive record up tonight? We'll find out in the next two hours or so.

Liverpool have a corner as Suarez races down the left and plays the ball of Sagna. Gerrard swings it in but Giroud clears it away.

A catalogue of errors from Arsenal leads to the opener! Sagna slips, allowing Johnson in and he slips it across to Sturridge, who should score himself but sees his shot saved. The ball is eventually worked back out to Suarez, whose shot deflects off Sagna and in.

CHANCE! What a chance for Arsenal to hit straight back! A fine ball finds Walcott unmarked in the box, but his effort is saved brilliantly by Reina.

I've just seen a replay of the goal and it actually came off Mertesacker on its way in. It was on target, though, so it should be Suarez's goal.

CHANCE! This match is becoming nice and open at the moment! Suarez sends one of he passes of the season across to Sturridge, but he drags his shot wide on his weaker foot. This one is shaping up nicely!

CHANCE! At the other end Arsenal have a chance of their own as Podolski races down the left and pulls it back to Giroud, who takes it first time on the run but can only send it wide.

As the replays were showing of that Sturridge chance, Szczesny took a major chance by trying to take the ball past Sturridge, he just gets it out of the way of immediate danger and Sturridge can't make anything out of it.

Arsenal are beginning to hold on to the ball and slow this one down now. They're enjoying a good spell, but Liverpool are dealing with the Gunners' attacks so far.

Suarez is playing out wide on the left today and he is being forced to defend at the moment. He blocks a Sagna cross, conceding a corner that comes to nothing.

SAVE! Cazorla slips a beautifully disguised pass into Vermaelen but Agger pulls off a fine block. The ball falls to Walcott, who tries to curl one into the far corner but Reina is on hand to tip it round the post.

UPDATE: A quick update from Old Trafford and Jay Rodriguez has given Southampton a surprise lead.

Walcott has a chance to whip a cross in towards Giroud but it's too close to Reina and the Spaniard collects.

Wisdom makes a marauding run down the right and wants to be slipped in by Henderson, but his pass is too heavy and Arsenal have a goalkick.

A good move from Arsenal sees Cazorla slip Podolski in down the left, but the German's ball into the box is cleared behind by Gerrard. Shaky moment for Liverpool.

YELLOW CARD! Santi Cazorla becomes the first man in the referee's notebook.

UPDATE: Man United have equalised through Wayne Rooney, while Fulham have taken the lead against West Ham.

OFF THE LINE! So close to a second for Liverpool! A corner comes in and Agger rises higher than Sagna to head goalwards. Szczesny has also come for it and missed it, but it's cleared off the line!

CHANCE! Suarez has a chance to shoot from inside the box after a Henderson slipped him in, but he drags his shot wide. Not the easiest chance but you'd have expected him to hit the target there.

Henderson has another chance to come forward and play a pass, but with lots of space he over-hits his ball towards Sturridge.

Gibbs has pulled up here with no pressure on him, which is never a good sign. Could be a hamstring injury, which would be bad news for the Gunners.

Arsenal send a corner into the Liverpool box and it drops right in the middle of the box and Johnson eventually gets it away. Arsenal didn't make the most of that chance, they need to gamble a bit more to get onto the end of these crosses.

Liverpool have a free kick in a good position after Ramsey brought down Agger. Gerrard is standing over it...

ARSENAL SUB: But before anything can happen Gibbs is going off to be replaced by Andre Santos.

The free kick is eventually taken and it's a peach of a delivery which finds the head of an unmarked Agger, but the Dane's effort wouldn't have counted even is Szczesny hadn't made the save as he was offside.

CHANCE! Liverpool try to play out from the back but Suarez eventually loses it. Wilshere gives it to Podolski, whose pull back didn't find an Arsenal player, but Walcott eventually picks it up and sends a cross into Giroud, who rises well and pulls off a trademark header, but it's straight at Reina.

Suarez has had more of an impact in his own half than that of Arsenal's so far, with his goal and pass to Sturridge being rare attacking moments for the Uruguayan so far.

CHANCE! Suarez sends a pass down the line to Henderson, who is clear through on goal. Szczesny comes out to meet him and Henderson tries to lob him, but puts too much on it and it goes over.

We will have three minutes of added time at the Emirates.

Arsenal have enjoyed most of the possession in this half but haven't really done enough with it. There are more goals in this one, but I don't think they'll come before the break.

The referee brings an end to a good half for Liverpool. They took the lead early on and, despite Arsenal having most of the ball from then on, have created a number of other goalscoring chances. Arsenal have threatened at times as well, however, and they will be confident of pulling at least one goal back after the break.

It has been an entertaining match for the neutrals so far. Plenty of chances and some good, attacking football on display. The goal was very scrappy and had a big element of luck about it, but Arsenal shot themselves in the foot a bit with their failure to clear it.

Liverpool may be one goal ahead, but this one is by no means over. I'd be very surprised if there were no more goals in this one, I'm still sticking to my 2-2 draw prediction.

So, what will both managers be saying at half time? Well, Arsene Wenger will be keen for his strikers to gamble inside the area. Podolski has put in plenty of good crosses into the box, but there has not been anyone there to put them in. Giroud has shown how dangerous he can be in the air when he has got the chance. For Rodgers, he'll want more of the same.

Liverpool come forward at the start of this half, knocking the ball about confidently in the Arsenal half until Downing cuts inside and sees his shot blocked.

Sturridge wants a handball given against Vermaelen in the box, and he has a point! He backheels it to Suarez, who eventually works it back to the England international, but he doesn't get hold of his shot and it dribbles wide.

Andre Santos charges forward into the box but is seen out of play by Carragher. It will be interesting to see whether Downing takes Santos on in this half, the Brazilian is not known for his defensive capabilities.

It's Podolski's turn to claim for a penalty as nice build up play from the hosts leads to the German advancing into the box. Andre Wisdom tries to ease Podolski out and the striker goes down, but the ref waves it away.

CHANCE! Podolski clips a fine ball towards the back post that Johnson looks to hook away, but Walcott gets ahead of the fullback and heads just over the bar.

Arsenal are enjoying a really good spell at the moment, playing some neat football in and around Liverpool's box. They now have a free kick in a good position after Lucas's foul.

But Podolski's effort goes straight into the wall and his second dig at goal is even more powerful but goes straight into the stomach of Carragher, who stands up until the ball goes out of play but then crumples in a heap. That was a hammer blow.

It's another lucky goal for Liverpool, but they're not complaining at all! Henderson shows good feet to skip through two defenders and his poke towards goal is blocked by Ramsey, but deflects back of Santos and back into Henderson' path, allowing him to slip it into the empty net. Arsenal have a mountain to climb now!

CLOSE! Podolski unleashes a snap shot first time as the ball fell to him, and his effort skids just past Reina's post. Good effort from the German, who has been Arsenal's stand out player so far.

Giroud just can't stop scoring at the moment! Wilshere clips a ball in from a free kick and the Frenchman peels off Agger to nod the ball past Reina from close range.

The Gunners are level! Brilliant fight back from the hosts as Giroud plays a little ball off to Walcott, and the English international hammers it past Reina from a tight angle. Great finish from the in-form winger.

CLOSE! Walcott almost pulls another special effort out of the bag. He cuts inside and curls a left-footer towards goal, but it flies narrowly past Reina's post. Arsenal are on top at the moment.

YELLOW CARD! Gerrard enters the referee's book as he closes down Mertesacker but slides in and brings the German down late. He can have no complaints with that one.

CHANCE! Oh that is a great chance for Arsenal to take the lead! Podolski finds his way down the left and flashes a cross right along the face of goal, which Giroud just has to turn in. He can't get enough on it, however, and misses a gilt-edge chance! Should've been 3-2.

SHOT! Liverpool respond with a shot of their own as Downing finds Suarez on the edge of the box, but the Uruguayan's effort is too high and wide.

YELLOW CARD! Agger charges forward but is brought down by Mertesacker, who is booked for his troubles.

Well that brings a thoroughly entertaining match to an end. Liverpool came close to winning it at the end there but both sides had chances and a draw was probably the fairest result.

All in all neither side will be disappointed with that result. Liverpool will not be too happy having squandered a two-goal lead, but I'm sure that they would've taken a point away to Arsenal before the match, and the Gunners had chances to make it worse as well. Arsenal, meanwhile, will be happy having come from behind, and a draw against Liverpool isn't a bad result at all.
