Sports Mole dissects the action as Everton and Arsenal draw 1-1 at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

Everton's winless run against Arsenal has continued after the two sides shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

The Gunners were ahead inside the opening minute when Theo Walcott converted from inside the box, but Everton levelled after 28 minutes courtesy of Marouane Fellaini.

Both sides had chances in an eventful second period, but to no avail as the points were shared in a pulsating finish.

Here, Sports Mole dissects the 90 minutes of action between the two sides.

Was the result fair?

Arsenal started the match in the best possible fashion with an early goal, but Everton deservedly levelled just before the 30-minute mark. The Gunners dominated possession for large periods of the match but never really did enough to secure all three points. Overall, a point was just about correct.

Everton's performance

6/10. It was hardly a vintage performance from Everton, but they did create enough opportunities to secure more than one goal. They also showed good character to recover from the early shock, but their usual energy and enthusiasm deserted them. In truth they looked tired.

Arsenal's performance

6/10. Even after Arsenal took an early lead, you always felt that Everton would get back into the match. Their defending left a lot to be desired at times and the impressive Walcott disappeared in the second period. But Arsene Wenger will travel back to London pleased with a point from Goodison.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Marouane Fellaini: The Belgian returned to the Everton team this evening and immediately made an impact with their leveller. He tired as the match entered its latter stages, but he was the game's biggest threat.

Biggest gaffe

Arsenal's defending for Everton's opening goal must be called into question. It was a good strike from Fellaini, but he was simply afforded far too much space on the edge of the area and had time to pick his spot.

Referee performance

Michael Oliver had a fairly underwhelming 90 minutes of action this evening. We hardly noticed him during the entirety of the match as he allowed the play to flow in the correct areas. However, he was prepared to award bookings when he deemed necessary.

What next?

Everton: The Toffees will attempt to return to winning ways when they travel to Premier League champions Manchester City at the weekend.

Arsenal: Wenger's side face a home Premier League match against Swansea City at the weekend before travelling to Greece to face Olympiakos in the Champions League next week.
