Arsenal are reportedly hoping to confirm the managerial appointment of Mikel Arteta before the end of this week.
Having taken over two-and-a-half weeks to find a replacement for Unai Emery, it appears that the club are on the brink of bringing Manchester City assistant Arteta to the Emirates Stadium.
As it stands, interim boss Freddie Ljungberg is taking training ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture with Everton at Goodison Park.
However, the Evening Standard claims that Gunners officials are hoping to have Arteta in place for the showdown with the Toffees.
Arteta has a close affinity with both clubs, having played six seasons at Everton before the final five years of his playing career were spent in North London.
A report has suggested that several senior players at Arsenal are currently against his arrival.
