Arsene Wenger rules out Arsenal title bid

Arsene Wenger admits that he is pessimistic over Arsenal's title hopes after falling 12 points behind Chelsea in Sunday's defeat at Swansea City.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that this evening's 2-1 defeat to Swansea City saw his side bow out of the Premier League title race.

The Gunners travelled to South Wales knowing that victory would see them stay within nine points of table-topping Chelsea.

Despite opening the scoring through Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal went down to quickfire goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bafetimbi Gomis, and Wenger says that clawing back a 12-point deficit is not "realistic".

"I worry that we concede the goals, yes. At the moment we have different worries than that [the gap between Arsenal and Chelsea]," he told BBC Sport.

"We just lost a game that we feel we should not have lost. You have to win the games you can win and today was one.

"If you want to challenge for the Premier League you have to be a bit more realistic."

Wenger's side dropped to sixth - one place below Swansea - following the setback.
