Arsenal interim boss Freddie Ljungberg has said that Nicolas Pepe "showed his quality" during Monday's Premier League clash with West Ham United at the London Stadium.
Pepe had only managed one goal in 13 Premier League appearances for the Gunners heading into the contest with the Hammers, and he found it difficult to contribute in the opening 45 minutes.
The Ivory Coast international scored Arsenal's second against West Ham, though, before providing the assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to send the visitors into a 3-1 lead.
"He has come from the French league to the Premier League, the best league in the world. It is a lot faster, a lot harder and he needs to adapt," Ljungberg told reporters.
"He showed his quality, I am so pleased for him. He was a big, big buy for the club, and there is pressure which comes with that. But he will fall asleep with a smile tonight."
Despite struggling to impress in the Premier League thus far, Pepe has managed two goals and two assists in four Europa League outings since arriving at the Emirates Stadium.
