Jack Wilshere: 'Arsenal lacked final ball against Tottenham Hotspur'

Midfielder Jack Wilshere suggests that Arsenal would have defeated Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon had they shown more composure with their final ball.

Midfielder Jack Wilshere has claimed that Arsenal could have "really hurt" Tottenham Hotspur had they shown more composure in the final third.

Arsenal succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Wembley Stadium courtesy of a second-half header from Harry Kane, and the Gunners were fortunate to only lose by a one-goal margin.

However, Wilshere has suggested that he and his teammates should have been able to give Arsene Wenger's side a half-time lead at a time when chances for either team were few and far between.

The 26-year-old is quoted by the Daily Star as saying: "We missed an opportunity in the first half to take the lead. The game was there in the first half, they were a bit cagey and we defended well.

"We got down on the counter-attack a few times in the first half and we looked like we could have really hurt them, but then we had our final ball where we rushed it and the chance was gone.

"We'll look back and take some positives, but at the end of the day it was a big game for us and we lost. We're not happy."

Arsenal now sit seven points adrift of fourth-placed Spurs in the Premier League standings.
