How Liverpool could line up against Arsenal

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Liverpool could line up for Saturday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp could be faced with the best kind of selection dilemma for Saturday's Premier League battle with leaders Arsenal at Anfield.

The Reds advanced to the EFL Cup semi-finals with a 5-1 battering of West Ham United on Wednesday, where Curtis Jones put in a man-of-the-match display with two strikes to his name.

Jones took advantage of Liverpool's midfield absences to play a starring role in the quarter-finals, as Alexis Mac Allister (knee), Stefan Bajcetic (calf), Thiago Alcantara (hip) and Ryan Gravenberch (fatigue) all missed the visit of the Irons.

Gravenberch should be back at Klopp's disposal for Saturday's game, but Jones has surely done enough to hold his spot in the engine room, where Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo are set to join him again.

Elsewhere on the injury front, long-term knee victims Joel Matip and Ben Doak remain on the arduous road to recovery, while Andrew Robertson (shoulder) and Diogo Jota (muscle) remain unavailable as well.

A recognisable backline should therefore comprise Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Kostas Tsimikas forming a protective barrier in front of Alisson Becker, while the attacking trident should pick itself too.

Despite Cody Gakpo's fine finish in the cup, Darwin Nunez should be deployed through the centre with support from Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, where the Uruguayan will have his work cut out to get the better of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba.

Liverpool possible starting lineup: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Szoboszlai, Endo, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
