Sports Mole picks out the 11 players who made their mark in the Premier League this weekend.

It was another frantic weekend of Premier League action across Saturday and Sunday, with plenty of talking points, controversy and surprise results.

The most eye-catching of those was West Bromwich Albion's shock win at Manchester United, while Arsenal moved to the top of the table thanks to a victory away to Swansea City.

Manchester City went down in a classic at Villa Park and Liverpool got back to winning ways as they saw off Sunderland. Meanwhile, Southampton, Hull City, Cardiff City and Norwich City also enjoyed successful weekends.

With those matches in mind, Sports Mole selects the 11 players who made their mark on proceedings.

Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur)
The Frenchman was called into action a number of times to keep Chelsea at bay as Spurs earned a point against their London rivals.

Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea)
The ever-reliable Ivanovic rarely put a foot wrong in defence for Chelsea during their draw at Tottenham Hotspur.
Kolo Toure (Liverpool)
The Ivorian continues to look like a stellar bit of business by the Merseysiders, putting in another dominant performance during their comprehensive victory at Sunderland.
John Terry (Chelsea)
Terry came up with a captain's goal at White Hart Lane to help his side come away from North London with a share of the spoils.
Luke Shaw (Southampton)
Still only 18 years of age, Shaw is having an admirable campaign for the Saints - typified by a dynamic display in his side's triumph over Crystal Palace.

Serge Gnabry (Arsenal)
The German youngster has a bright future with Arsenal, and he capped an impressive turn out on the wing at Swansea City with a well-taken goal as the Gunners went to the top of the table.
Mousa Dembele (Tottenham Hotspur)
In the cut and thrust of a derby against Chelsea, Dembele shone thanks to a superb all-round performance from midfield during the 1-1 draw.
Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)
The Welshman is going from strength to strength this season, taking his tally to eight goals in all competitions with a fearsome strike versus Swansea City.
Morgan Amalfitano (West Bromwich Albion)
Amalfitano scored an incredible goal as the Baggies notched up a famous win at Manchester United, jinking his way through the home defence before dinking the ball over the helpless David De Gea. He also showed a deft touch to set up his side's winner.

Luis Suarez (Liverpool)
The controversial Uruguayan marked his league return for the Reds with a vital brace in their win at Sunderland.
Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)
Sturridge and Suarez look like they could well be the league's hottest strike partnership this season as the former bagged his seventh goal of the campaign against Sunderland.

Numpty of the week

Rio Ferdinand: The Manchester United defender looked lethargic against West Bromwich Albion, failing to deal with Amalfitano as the Baggies shocked the champions.

Goal of the week

Morgan Amalfitano (West Bromwich Albion) vs. Manchester United: There were plenty of incredible strikes to choose from this week, but Amalfitano's amazing solo effort against Manchester United was a thing of mesmeric beauty.
