How Arsenal could line up against Watford

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up for Sunday's Premier League meeting with Watford at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will be looking to hit back from their shock midweek loss to Aston Villa when they take on Watford at the Emirates Stadium in their final Premier League game of the season.

The Gunners went down 1-0 to the Villans through Trezeguet's first-half strike and can now finish no higher than eighth in the table.

Boss Mikel Arteta's focus will now be on next weekend's FA Cup final against Chelsea, with Sunday's visit of relegation-threatened Watford offering one final chance to settle on his preferred starting XI for that huge showdown at Wembley.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up for their final game of a disappointing Premier League campaign.

Out: Gabriel Martinelli (knee), Bernd Leno (knee), Pablo Mari (ankle), Calum Chambers (knee)
Doubtful: Mesut Ozil (back), Shkodran Mustafi (back), Reiss Nelson (groin)

Arsenal have a six-day gap between this clash with Watford and the FA Cup final with Chelsea, so Arteta is expected to field his strongest possible XI this weekend.

That will mean going with a 3-4-3 formation that worked so well in the semi-final win over Manchester City.

Shkodran Mustafi started that match but is a major doubt for this game, so Rob Holding will again fill in alongside David Luiz and Kieran Tierney.

Arteta has a big decision to make at left wing-back, where Ainsley Maitland-Niles impressed against City, but is expected to drop out here - and indeed against Chelsea - in favour of Bukayo Saka.

Matteo Guendouzi has been completely shut out by Arteta, as has Mesut Ozil, so the Gunners have limited options in holding midfield.

Up top, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be aiming to build on a record of four goals in four league meetings with Watford, albeit with three of those goals coming at Vicarage Road.
