Tomiyasu, Timber - Arsenal injury news and return dates before Chelsea clash

Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Now sitting pretty atop their Premier League perch once more, Arsenal host London rivals Chelsea in Tuesday's blockbuster battle at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners recovered from back-to-back losses to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich by overcoming Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 on Saturday night thanks to goals from Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard either side of the half-time whistle.

Owing to Manchester City's participation in the FA Cup semi-finals, Mikel Arteta's men are now one point clear of the reigning champions at the summit, albeit having played one more game.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the Gunners' meeting with Chelsea, who were Man City's FA Cup semi-final victims in a 1-0 defeat at Wembley.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: April 23 (vs. Chelsea)

The injury-riddled Takehiro Tomiyasu missed out on facing Wolves at the weekend due to a knock sustained in the loss to Bayern, but his absence was a precautionary one, and there is a strong chance he will be back in contention this week.

Jurrien Timber

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: May 12 (vs. Manchester United)

Jurrien Timber made his long-awaited return from an ACL injury for the Under-21s against Blackburn Rovers on Monday night, after which he should be cleared for a first-team comeback, but he will miss the visit of the Blues.
