How Arsenal could line up against Everton

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up for Sunday's trip to face Everton at Goodison Park - a match which could see the Gunners climb up to third.

Arsenal could consolidate their place in the top four of the Premier League table when they take on Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

With neither Tottenham Hotspur nor Manchester United in league action this weekend, and Chelsea not playing until Monday, the Gunners know that victory will lift them up to third and three points clear of fifth having played the same number of games.

Unai Emery's side are very much in the driving seat for a Champions League spot, then, but they need only look around them for evidence of what a poor result or two can do during the closing stages of the season.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up for their trip to Merseyside.

Out: Lucas Torreira (suspended), Hector Bellerin (knee), Rob Holding (knee), Danny Welbeck (ankle)
Doubtful: Granit Xhaka (thigh), Laurent Koscielny (foot), Aaron Ramsey (thigh)

Arsenal will hand late fitness tests to Granit Xhaka, Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey ahead of Sunday's match, but the latter two in particular are expected to be fit in time.

Xhaka has not featured since the international break and may miss out again this weekend, but the bruised foot which forced Koscielny to withdraw from Monday's match against Newcastle United is not thought to be serious while Ramsey's withdrawal in that game was down to cramp.

Emery now appears to have settled on a 3-4-2-1 system which has left him with the enviable problem of trying to cram two in-form goalscorers into the same team; Alexandre Lacazette appears to be the more in-favour of the two right now, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be hopeful of returning to the XI too.

Lucas Torreira serves the final game of his three-match ban to leave Matteo Guendouzi as the most likely to partner the outgoing but in-form Ramsey in the middle of the park, should the Welshman be passed fit.

Mesut Ozil has also been in and out of the team of late, but he now appears to have worked his way back into Emery's thinking and will hope to have done enough to retain his place.
