Arsenal 'draw up 10-man striker shortlist'

:Headline: Arsenal 'draw up 10-man striker shortlist':
Arsenal reportedly compile a list of 10 strikers who they could potentially target during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are allegedly assessing the capabilities of 10 different strikers ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are currently the top goalscorers in the Premier League, netting 70 times in 28 matches and five more than anyone else in the division.

However, rather than a bulk of those goals coming from a recognised centre-forward, they have been shared around the squad, with Bukayo Saka (13) the only player to reach double figures.

Players such as Gabriel Jesus (four), Kai Havertz (eight), Eddie Nketiah (five) and Leandro Trossard (seven) - all of whom have featured down the middle of the attack at some stage - have not shown the consistency required to retain that role.

As such, Mikel Arteta has already hinted that he is in the market for a new striker, regardless of whether Arsenal are able to end their long wait to win another top-flight crown.

According to football.london, Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres is one of the names who feature at the top of the shortlist.

The former Coventry City man has already contributed 36 goals and 14 assists from 39 appearances this campaign, and the expectation is that Sporting will receive an array of offers for the striker in the summer.

Brentford's Ivan Toney allegedly remains on their radar, despite the possibility of costing more than Gyokeres, and the same applies to Napoli's Victor Osimhen who is expected to depart Naples at the end of the season.

Another name said to have been mentioned is Feyenoord's Santiago Gimenez, with the Mexico international having scored 21 times in 25 Eredivisie starts this campaign.

Brian Brobbey has impressed in a struggling Ajax side, chipping in with 16 goals and seven assists from 25 outings, while Arsenal sporting director Edu is also taking notice of players in the Bundesliga.

Lois Openda has been a standout performer for RB Leipzig with 23 strikes in Germany's top flight and the Champions League, and Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface has 10 goals and seven assists from just 16 appearances in domestic action in the same country.

Meanwhile, The Mirror adds that Benjamin Sesko, who has not always starting on a regular basis during his first campaign with Leipzig, is another player being considered by the Gunners.

Porto attacker Evanilson - who recently faced Arsenal across two Champions League last-16 fixtures - is said to complete the list, with 20 goals being scored in all competitions.

Arsenal will look to offset any fee shelled out for their chosen target through player sales, wit it already being alleged that Nketiah could be sold with as many as three Premier League clubs already monitoring the situation. body check tags ::
