Arsenal are reported to be on the verge of finalising a deal for Sampdoria defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The Uruguay international started 36 of the Blucerchiati's 38 Serie A outings last term, claiming four goals and one assist in the process.
New Gunners manager Unai Emery, meanwhile, is seemingly eager to bolster his squad ahead of next season and has identified Torreira as a key target.
According to talkSPORT, Sampdoria have reached a deal to sign Lokomotiv Zagreb midfielder Lovro Majer, which leaves Torreira free to depart the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
The report goes on to claim that the 22-year-old has a €25m (£22m) release clause, which Arsenal have no problem activating.
Everton have also been linked with an offer for Torreira, who is in Uruguay's squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
