Arsenal are reportedly refusing to be held to ransom over midfielder Aaron Ramsey's new contract as talks between the two parties continue.
Ramsey, 27, will see his current Arsenal deal expire at the end of the 2018-19 season, and the Welshman's future at the Emirates Stadium is said to be far from secure.
Chelsea and Manchester United are both said to be monitoring developments, with Ramsey having dropped to the bench for Arsenal's Premier League clash with Chelsea at the weekend.
According to the London Evening Standard, Ramsey wants a significant increase on his £110,000-a-week wages, but has been told not to expect a similar package to the one enjoyed by Mesut Ozil, who is on £350,000 a week at the Emirates Stadium.
The same report claims that Ramsey is looking to double his wage, but Arsenal are holding firm when it comes to their structure, meaning that the two parties are still some way apart.
Ramsey has scored 59 times and registered 57 assists in 333 appearances for Arsenal since joining the London club from Cardiff City in 2008.
