Arsenal are set to compete with local rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku at the end of the season, according to reports.
The Belgian international has earned rave reviews since moving to Everton on loan last summer, and the Daily Mail claims that the Gunners could get into a bidding war with Spurs for the 20-year-old, which could see the striker be sold for a fee of around £40m.
It is thought that Everton are unlikely to keep hold of Lukaku because of the price involved and the chances of a further loan deal appears to be slim.
However, it is reported that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may be reluctant to sell the forward to either of his London rivals, but the fee would help the Blues in their quest to land players like Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.
It is also claimed that Chelsea will recall Thibaut Courtois for his loan at Atletico this summer, rather than let him go to another club.
