Atletico Madrid have reportedly made contact with super-agent Jorge Mendes to try to send French attacker Thomas Lemar to Arsenal during the January transfer window.
The Gunners, who are expected to be busy in terms of signings this month, have been linked with a swoop for the 24-year-old in recent days.
Lemar is currently on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, but the speculation surrounding his future continues to gather pace with an exit seen as possible before the transfer deadline.
According to Marca, Atletico have called on their 'most trusted agent' Mendes to work on an exit strategy, with the versatile attacker seen as surplus to requirements at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Lemar scored 22 times and contributed 33 assists in 127 appearances for Monaco before joining Diego Simeone's side in a big-money deal during the summer of 2018.
The France international has only scored three times in 64 outings for Atletico in all competitions, though, and is yet to find the back of the net or indeed register an assist in 21 appearances this term.
