Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Everton Women and Liverpool Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Liverpool Women will make the short trip to Goodison Park for Sunday's derby clash against Merseyside rivals Everton Women.

The Reds are sitting in sixth spot in the Women's Super League table, while the Toffees are languishing at the foot of the standings.

Match preview

Everton are one of two teams yet to win a WSL game this season after drawing three and losing four of their seven league matches.

The Toffees picked up their latest point in their recent away clash against Crystal Palace, with Honoka Hayashi netting a second-half equaliser to rescue a 1-1 draw, ensuring her side avoided a third consecutive defeat.

While they may have picked up a useful point, Everton are languishing at the foot of the table, with goal difference keeping them below 11th-placed Aston Villa.

Having scored just two goals in their seven matches, Brian Sorensen's side are the joint-lowest scorers in the WSL alongside Leicester City, while they also have the third-worst defensive record with 13 goals conceded.

The Toffees will have to improve at both ends of the pitch if they are to get one over their locals rivals by claiming their first home league win since February.

Liverpool have experienced mixed fortunes this season, having seen their seven league games produce two wins, three draws and two defeats.

Last weekend, the Reds fell to a heavy 3-0 defeat against WSL champions Chelsea, leaving them without a win in any of their four league games this season.

While they have struggled on home turf, the Reds have better fortunes on their travels after taking seven points from their three WSL away matches.

They drew with West Ham United in their first away game of the season, before they recorded victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa to extend their overall unbeaten away run to eight league matches.

However, Liverpool have failed to win their last three away WSL matches against Everton (D2, L1) since recording a 2-0 victory in September 2017.

Team News

The hosts are unable to call upon Aurora Galli, Inma Gabarro and Kenzie Weir, with the trio all sidelined with anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

Defender Elise Stenevik remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while there is doubt surrounding Karen Holmgaard's availability.

Lucy Hope was absent for the recent draw with Palace and will have to be assessed ahead of Sunday's Merseyside derby.

As for the visitors, they are still without Sofie Lundgaard and Sophie Roman Haug due to knee and ankle injuries respectively.

Lucy Parry missed the defeat to Chelsea with an Achilles problem, and the 20-year-old remains sidelined for Sunday's derby clash.

Liverpool boss Matt Beard has confirmed that Fuka Nagano is available for selection after recovering from an ankle injury.

Everton Women possible starting lineup:
Brosnan; Sarri, Vanhaevermaet, Finnigan, S. Holmgaard; Wheeler, Hayashi; Payne, Olesen, Payne; Snoeijs

Liverpool Women possible starting lineup:
Laws; Clark, Bonner, Matthews; Fisk, Hobinger, Holland, Nagano, Hinds; Kiernan, Smith

We say: Everton Women 1-2 Liverpool Women

Liverpool have won their last two away league matches, and we think they will do enough to claim another away victory against their local rivals, especially as the hosts have lost two of their three home league games this season.
