Manchester City have reportedly upped their efforts to secure the signing of Atletico Mineiro youngster Savio.

Despite still being two months short of his 18th birthday, Savio - also known as Savinho - has already made 23 appearances for his Brazilian side, putting himself in the spotlight.

Arsenal have been linked with the teenager in the past and were seemingly towards the front of the queue to get a deal over the line.

However, Globo claims that City have made an approach for the prospect, the Premier League giants ready to commit to a proposal which could total £8.4m.

While the winger has a contract at Atletico Mineiro until the end of 2023, his club will not want to risk having to sell one of their most prized assets for a cut-price fee.

City are also said to be happy to include a sell-on clause in any deal. body check tags ::
