Manchester City would reportedly be willing to sell Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo for €40m (£35m) during this summer's transfer window.

The 29-year-old joined Bayern Munich on loan from the Citizens in January, and he has made 21 appearances for the Bundesliga champions since his arrival, scoring once and providing six assists.

Cancelo was a second-half substitute in Saturday's 2-1 win over FC Koln, with Thomas Tuchel's side spectacularly beating Borussia Dortmund to the title on the final matchday of the campaign.

The Munich giants have the option to sign the right-back on a permanent basis this summer for €70m (£61.5m), but they are not expected to activate it, with Cancelo, as it stands, heading back to Man City.

The Portugal international is not thought to be in Pep Guardiola's plans for next season, though, with the Citizens keen to sell him during this summer's transfer window.

Barcelona are currently being heavily linked with Cancelo, as the Catalan outfit are looking to bring in a specialist right-back during this summer's transfer window.

According to SPORT, Man City would be willing to accept €40m (£35m) for the defender this summer, and the asking price has already been communicated to the La Liga champions.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Catalan giants are in a position to sign the full-back on a permanent basis due to their financial problems.

Barcelona will need to make some major sales this summer in order to balance the books, but they will be removing two huge salaries from their wage budget, with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba both moving on.

Cancelo has featured on 154 occasions for Man City since making the move to the Etihad Stadium from Juventus in the summer of 2019.

The full-back has played a key role in the team's success in recent years, but his relationship with Guardiola has now seemingly broken down, which will lead to his exit.

Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in Cancelo, with the Gunners thought to be preparing to rival Barcelona for his signature during the summer market.

Cancelo has now won three Premier League titles at Man City due to the team's success in England's top flight this season, in addition to two EFL Cup trophies.

There have also been suggestions that the defender could leave the Etihad Stadium on loan, although it is likely that the Citizens would want to include a future purchase agreement in any deal. body check tags ::
