Argentine club San Lorenzo have completed the signing of centre-back Mario Yepes.

The 38-year-old, who was recently linked with a switch to Arsenal, had been a free agent following his release by Serie A outfit Atalanta at the end of last season.

However, on their official Twitter account late last night, San Lorenzo revealed that they had secured the defender's services.

"Welcome Mario! Yepes has become a new San Lorenzo player. Welcome to the champions of [South] America," read a tweet from the club.

Yepes retired from international football with Colombia following the conclusion of this summer's World Cup.
