Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has backed plans for Thierry Henry to return to the club on loan.
The New York Red Bulls striker is currently training with the North London side during the MLS off-season.
"I am very happy to play against him in training and it is a great experience," Mertesacker said. "He is playing very, very good. He is a great opportunity for us but I'm not the manager. I couldn't make a decision on what is possible for him or for us.
"In training, he shows his class and to have him with us is great because he shows his attitude, his experience. He still has the same attitude he showed in a lot of games at Arsenal."
The German also gave a glowing endorsement to international teammate Lukas Podolski, who has also been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
"He is a great player, especially for the national team," Mertesacker added. "He scores a lot of goals, and he has a very good finish with his left foot. His left foot is unbelievable and I'm a fan of him. This year, he has scored a lot of goals. He is powerful as well."
The Gunners next host Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League on New Year's Eve.
