Arsenal have reportedly contacted Real Madrid over signing defender Sergio Ramos.
The 28-year-old is out of contract with the Blancos in 2017, with speculation suggesting that negotiations over an extension have flatlined after Ramos admitted that he was in no hurry to sign a new deal.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is thought to be an admirer of the Spain international and, according to an AS journalist, the Frenchman has enquired about his availability.
Manuel Esteban Manolet told La Goleada: "Wenger has called Rene Ramos, the agent and brother of Sergio Ramos."
The North Londoners' defensive frailties have been exposed once more throughout an up-and-down season, and Wenger is said to have identified Ramos as the man to quell their shortcomings at the back.
The former Sevilla ace scored in Sunday's Club World Cup win as the reigning European champions wrapped up their fourth title of 2014.
