Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to battle Arsenal for the signature of RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano.
The central defender, who has made 11 appearances for his German club this season, is believed to be a transfer target for Arsenal, with the Gunners allegedly preparing a £40m January swoop.
However, according to Bleacher Report, Tottenham are also interested in a swoop for the 21-year-old amid the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertongen.
Indeed, both players will be out of contract at the end of the current season, potentially leaving Spurs with the task of rebuilding their defence in next summer's transfer window.
Upamecano, who missed the second half of the 2018-19 campaign with a knee injury, will reportedly see the release clause in his current deal drop to £53m ahead of next season.
The France Under-21 international joined Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in 2017.
