Arsene Wenger: 'No change in transfer policy'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that there will be no change in his transfer policy as he looks to add "world-class" players to a home-grown core.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he will not change his transfer policy despite vowing to spend more money to bring world-class players to the club.

Wenger endured a summer of frustration in the transfer window this year, bringing in just Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini on free transfers before silencing his critics on deadline day by signing Mesut Ozil in a club-record deal.

However, the Frenchman insists that the core of the club will remain with players who come through the academy, while he will try to add "world-class" players around them.

"The policy is exactly the same - I always want to bring the best players in here, world-class players, at the best possible price. And I want to continue to educate 60-80% of the squad ourselves," Wenger told the club's official website.

"The culture of the club, the way we want to play football and the way we want to behave, comes from within. The [Jack] Wilsheres, the [Aaron] Ramseys, the [Kieran] Gibbs - these kind of players have to be the culture of the club.

"Then on top of that we want to bring world-class players who will help us to be even stronger."

Arsenal currently sit joint-top of the Premier League table having picked up 16 points from their opening seven games.
