Monaco will begin the new campaign with two points deducted after the club was penalised by the French League (LFP) for crowd trouble at its ground.
The Ligue 1 outfit was slapped with a three-point penalty, with one suspended, due to the behaviour of its supporters during last season's clash with Le Mans.
The club celebrated winning the second division after the game, but the scenes were marred by a pitch invasion that saw flares set off and the referee assaulted by a fan.
Monaco are also required to play one home match behind closed doors.
"Regarding the seriousness of the facts, Monaco are condemned to one match behind closed doors and a three-point penalty, including one suspended, for the next Ligue 1 season," the LFP said in a statement.
Monaco had been tipped as Ligue 1 title contenders this season after adding several big names to its squad, including Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho.
