Aston Villa winger Andre Green is set to face months out on the sidelines following hamstring surgery.
The Villa youth academy product has struggled with hamstring issues in the past, and the 19-year-old went under the knife on Tuesday to cure his problems.
Green came off injured in Villa's goalless draw with Brentford on Saturday, and manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that the winger could be out for months.
Bruce told reporters: "Greeny has had an operation so that's a bit of a blow for us. We wish him a speedy recovery, but it will be months I think. He's had something wrong with his tendon, I don't know the technical term but it's a bad one. He's done his hamstring three times since I've been here."
The England Under-20 international made his debut for Villa as a 17-year-old when the Birmingham-based club were still in the Premier League. Green went on to make 15 appearances in the 2016-17 Championship season, and the winger scored his first professional goal for the Villans last month against Norwich City.
Villa currently sit in 18th place in the Championship table after seven games, and next play Barnsley away from home.
