Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott has described his side's first win in 19 Premier League games as "massive".
The 33-year-old's header, which crept between goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey's legs, was the difference as Villa took home a 1-0 triumph.
"It's massive," BBC Sport quotes Lescott as saying. "It's been a difficult time for us. It's not about performance, it's about points and we're delighted to get the three.
"Crystal Palace are a good away team but we nullified them. As a defender you pride yourself on clean sheets and we earned that today. We're not going to get carried away but we can take pride from that performance."
The win, which was Remi Garde's first as Villa boss, does not affect the club's position as they remain at the bottom of the table.
