Norwich City boss Paul Lambert and Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez have emerged as the early favourites to take the managerial position at Aston Villa.
Alex McLeish was given his marching orders on Monday following a less then successful first season at the club, and Villa are understood to be keen to make a quick appointment.
Martinez, who turned Villa down last summer, has steered Wigan away from the relegation zone this season, while Lambert led the Canaries to 12th in their first season in the Premier League.
Gus Poyet, Alan Curbishley and Rafael Benitez are also reportedly in the frame.
