Paul Lambert has planned a trip to Germany to study Borussia Dortmund's training sessions, according to reports.
The Scot was sacked by Villa last week following an extended run of poor results, with Tim Sherwood eventually being named as his replacement on the weekend.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Lambert has been contacted by Dortmund officials about visiting the club for a week, and he will use the opportunity to watch Jurgen Klopp's squad behind closed doors.
Lambert won the Champions League in his only season with the club in 1997, and he returned to Germany to earn his coaching badges after retiring.
