Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has suggested that the funds are there if he wants to bring in any new players during the January transfer window.
The Midlands club, who are ninth in the Premier League table, have a number of midfielders currently sidelined through injury.
"We will keep assessing what's happening out there," he told the Birmingham Mail.
"Again as I keep saying we've got to trade carefully, but I know Randy (Lerner, chairman) and Paul (Faulkner, chief executive) are right behind us if there's an opportunity for us to do something."
Villa travel to Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.
