Aston Villa are considering a January bid for Newcastle United midfielder Danny Guthrie.
The Midlands club's injury woes were recently compounded with news that the on-loan Jermaine Jenas would be sidelined for six months with an Achilles problem.
Villa, who were originally going to bid for Guthrie when his contract expires in the summer, could now get him for a cut price in the new year, according to The Mirror.
However, the 24-year-old has been ruled out for a month with a groin injury.
