Athletic Bilbao have extended their unbeaten run in La Liga to a fourth game by beating Sporting Gijon 3-0 at San Mames.
It was almost a perfect start to the contest for Bilbao, as Aritz Aduriz headed narrowly wide after being picked out by Oscar de Marcos.
Los Leones did find a way through just before the half-hour mark, though, thanks to a well-worked move which ended with Markel Susaeta tapping in from close range.
Aduriz added a second soon after following Omar Mascarell's concession of a penalty, although the forward could only find the net at the second attempt after seeing his initial effort kept out.
Bilbao were firing away shots at ease, but the third goal did not arrive until 67 minutes in when Aduriz was picked out inside the box and hit the ball across the keeper for his 99th goal in the red and white strip.
The Basque outfit climb above their opponents into 12th place as a result of the success.
