Atletico Madrid general manager Clemente Villaverde has spoken of his excitement about the upcoming Champions League semi-final between his Spanish club and Bayern Munich.
Atletico overcame Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the European Cup on Wednesday night to book their spot in the final four once again.
Diego Simeone's side avoided drawing capital rivals Real Madrid, but were paired with German champions Bayern Munich, with the first leg due to take place at the Vicente Calderon later this month.
Villaverde has spoken of his pride at Atletico's progression to the semis and believes that both final-four clashes will be "very tight".
"For me it is a privilege to represent Atletico Madrid and their fans in a Champions League semi-final against a club like Bayern Munich," he told reporters.
"I'm happy about that fact and also happy to play a semi-final of this competition. Atletico Madrid has demonstrated sufficient resilience to tackle this series of matches throughout the competition and we hope to be able to maintain the resilience now.
"The two semi-finals are very tight because four teams that reach this stage of competition means that the four have demonstrated sufficient capacity to be here. They are two important and very open semi-finals. In addition, there is a possibility to repeat a Spanish final [of 2014]."
Atletico are also chasing down Barcelona at the top of La Liga, with just three points currently separating the top two in Spain's top flight.
