Sports Mole brings you live commentary from this evening's Europa League final between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.

Good evening and welcome to Sports Mole's live commentary of the Europa League final between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.

The Champions League final may not be the all-Spanish affair that so many had anticipated, but the conclusion of Europe's secondary competition is an all-La Liga clash as Bilbao and Madrid meet in Bucharest.

Bilbao have claimed some impressive scalps on their way to tonight's match, including Manchester United and Schalke.

Meanwhile, Madrid overcame compatriots Valencia in the last four and will be hopeful that striker Radamel Falcao can continue his fine goalscoring form and deliver the trophy to the Spanish capital.

FULL-TIME: So it is Madrid who will shortly collect the Europa League trophy following a 3-0 victory over their La Liga rivals. Radamel Falcao's fine brace stole the show and put Madrid in control at the break. The second half was a much more even contest, but Diego wrapped up the result with a third in the closing stages. Bilbao may have made the headlines en route to Bucharest, but Madrid were deserving winners - their second Europa League triumph in three years. Thanks for joining Sports Mole for tonight's encounter.

FULL-TIME: Atletico Madrid 3-0 Athletic Bilbao

90 mins: We are into injury time and Falcao nearly tops his performance off with a hat-trick. An evidently defeated Bilbao allow Turan to dribble past them and square the ball to the Colombian, who flicks the ball goalwards with little power, and Iraizoz collects.

89 mins: Diego is given a standing ovation and a hug from his manager as he leaves the pitch to be replaced by Koke.

85 mins: Just as Bilbao were making this a contest, Madrid finish the game off. Muniain is lying on the floor in tears, but it is elation at the other end for Diego Simeone's side.

84 mins: Start engraving Madrid's name on the trophy, because this one is over. Diego, who as I had mentioned hadn't enjoyed the best of luck in front of goal tonight, demonstrates his samba roots by waltzing into the box, dribbling past two players and finishing confidently into the bottom corner. A fine goal from the Brazilian.

84 mins: GOAL!! Atletico Madrid 3-0 Athletic Bilbao (Diego)

80 mins: Just before that, Bilbao went close to pulling one back but were denied by a fine save from Courtois. Susaeta is unmarked at the far post and shoots at goal, only to be denied by the huge Belgian, who stretches to use all of his 6'6" frame and block the effort.

79 mins: Madrid hit the post!! Madrid hit Bilbao on the counter as Falcao skips past Iraola before cutting inside Javi Martinez, but he doesn't connect cleanly with the finish and it dribbles into the post.

77 mins: Turan could have wrapped the result up there for Madrid but instead of slotting the ball past Iraizoz, the Turkish international goes for an audacious chip which the Bilbao keeper is able to parry.

74 mins: The Basque outfit are starting are having much more of the ball now and the chances to show for it. They get a bit of fortune as Iraola's crossfield pass is deflected straight into the path of Susaeta, who strikes his left-foot volley perfectly. It looks to be heading goalwards but another deflection allows Courtois to palm it wide.

72 mins: Another opportunity for Bilbao. Great persistence from Ibai, who refuses to let Juanfran shield the ball out of play. He pinches it from the full-back and attempts a cutback. Courtois only partially clears and is relieved when Muniain's follow-up effort goes off target.

70 mins: Double chance for Bilbao. Firstly, Llorente is inches from meeting Perez's beautifully whipped-in ball from the right and then Ibai's volley is narrowly over the bar.

67 mins: It hasn't quite happened for the Brazilian tonight. He's been very tidy on the ball, but that is his third effort on goal that has ended up high or wide. Or both, on this occasion.

66 mins: Falcao has been mighty impressive. As well as his two goals, he's been quite isolated at times and has been forced to hold the ball up brilliantly. Here he runs the channel and earns his team a free kick out of nothing. Diego over it once again...

62 mins: Bielsa makes his final change as he introduces Toquero in place of Ander Herrera. Looks like Bilbao have switched to 4-4-2 following the substitution, with Toquero joining Llorente up top.

60 mins:58 mins: Perez's over-hit set piece nearly causes problems for Courtois, who is forced to backpedal and tip the ball over the bar.

57 mins: The delivery is a good one, into the right area but Ander Herrera's blazes his over the crossbar. They have another chance from this free kick though.

56 mins: Bilbao have a corner, which could be a way back into the match given their height advantage.

54 mins: A lovely passage of play as Falcao, Adrian and Gabi exchange passes on the edge of the area. The latter takes on the shot, but it is partially blocked and Iraizoz collects comfortably.

50 mins: This time it is Madrid who nearly benefit from a long diagonal. Diego peels off at the back post and controls the ball on his chest, but he can only poke the ball into the side netting as he is greeted by an onrushing Iraizoz.

47 mins: A positive start to the second period from Bilbao, whose coach Marcelo Bielsa made two changes at the break. Perez and Ibai have come on for Iturraspe and Aurtenetxe, who was given a torrid time by Falcao in the opening 45 minutes.

46 mins: Bilbao come out flying out of the blocks in the second half. Muniain is played in down the right and fizzes a ball into the near post. Miranda clears the ball behind but for a split second, it looked as if the defender had diverted it into his own net. Corner.

46 mins: The action has resumed in Bucharest, with Madrid leading 2-0.

HALF-TIME: So Madrid lead 2-0 at the break, with Radamel Falcao undoubtedly the star of the show. The Colombian, albeit aided by some sloppy Bilbao defending, has netted two superb individual efforts to set his team well on their way to a second Europa League trophy in three years. Bilbao have rarely threatened the goal of young Chelsea loanee Thibaut Courtois, who has been a spectator for much of the half. Can Llorente and company find a way back into the match in the second period?

HALF-TIME: Atletico Madrid 2-0 Athletic Bilbao

45 mins: Two minutes of stoppage time in Bucharest, where Falcao attempts to notch a first-half hat-trick. After he held the ball up smartly, Falcao lays the ball back to Diego and then receives a perfect return pass. He's in behind the Bilbao defence but chooses to cut back inside on his right foot and the strike goes wide of the far post.

42 mins: There is only one side in the contest here as Madrid have a corner. A third could put the match to bed before we have even reached half time.

39 mins: Madrid defend in numbers again as they swamp the oncoming Bilbao attack, which came from Susaeta down the left. He centred the ball but there were so many Madrid bodies inside the box that Llorente, the intended target, never had a sniff.

37 mins: As you would expect the Madrid fans, who were being drowned out by their Bilbao counterparts prior to kickoff, are now making all of the noise inside the National Arena stadium.

34 mins: Madrid lead by two, and again this one was slightly gifted to them by sloppy Bilbao defending. In the right full-back area, Iraola tries to dribble the ball out but is dispossessed. It is eventually crossed to Falcao, who still has plenty to do. He feigns to shoot on his right foot, but turns cleverly on to his left, leaving Aurtenetxe stranded and from there, the Colombian was never going to miss.

34 mins: GOAL!! Atletico Madrid 2-0 Athletic Bilbao (Falcao)

30 mins: Bilbao enjoy some success from a long diagonal ball, which they've used several times already in the contest. Llorente heads it down to De Marcos, who travels into the area, but is squeezed out by a combination of Godin and Miranda.

25 mins: Falcao's name is now on the scoresheet and in the referee's notebook as he is shown a yellow card for a late tackle.

24 mins: A chance at the other end also as Muniain runs into space and shoots low, but Courtois parries away firmly.

23 mins: His strike deflects behind for a corner, which also comes to nothing. A decent chance wasted for Madrid.

21 mins: Free kick in a really promising position for Madrid as Diego is hacked down by Ander Herrera, who is cautioned for his troubles. The Brazilian is up on his feet and over the ball...

18 mins: More smart work from the Bilbao midfielders, who create some space for a cross. Llorente gets in front of Godin at the near post but doesn't make clean contact and the ball trickles wide. Madrid's Uruguayan defender again had his hands all over Llorente as the ball came into the box.

17 mins: Diego picks the ball up for Madrid around 25 yards out but drags his shot well wide.

14 mins: Signs of Bilbao settling as lovely interplay between Susaeta and Muniain gives the latter an opportunity to play in Ander Herrera. However, he delayed his pass for too long and Madrid recover to outnumber the Bilbao attackers, eventually clearing the danger.

12 mins: Expanding on my reference to Madrid's young keeper... that would be Thibaut Courtois, who is on loan at the club from Chelsea. The towering stopper is only 19 years old, but has been a key figure in Madrid's path to tonight's final.

10 mins: No goal, but Bilbao are shouting for a penalty. Fernando Llorente's header is off target, but the Spanish international is complaining that he was being tugged by Godin in the box. He has a point, but rarely are those offences penalised when they occur inside the area.

9 mins: A perfect start for Madrid and you can't say that it isn't deserved. We've seen very little from Bilbao yet but they have a free kick here, so a chance to test the young Madrid keeper.

6 mins: Madrid lead and what a goal it is. Falcao picks the ball up and is allowed to creep into the box unchallenged. He is given far too much room as the Bilbao defence continue to back off. The Colombian doesn't need a second invitation to cut inside and bend a superb shot into the far corner. Fantastic finish, but poor defending from Bilbao.

6 mins: GOAL!! Atletico Madrid 1-0 Athletic Bilbao (Falcao)

2 mins: We should be in for a really entertaining game here. Both sides are believers in the beautiful game but Bilbao have twice given the ball away while trying to play out from the back. On the second of these occasions, Madrid can deliver a cross but Adrian's resulting header drifts harmlessly wide.

1 min: We are underway in Bucharest...
