Atletico Madrid have revealed that Argentine midfielder Augusto Fernandez suffered a knee injury during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Barcelona in La Liga.
The 29-year-old was forced off in the 75th minute of the clash at Camp Nou with a knee problem, suspected to be ligament damage.
Atletico have confirmed that Fernandez will undergo tests to determine the extent of the injury, but believe that the ligaments in his left knee have been "affected".
"Augusto Fernandez had to leave the field injured on 75 minutes and suffers an injury to his left knee. He will undergo medical tests," read a statement from the capital club.
"After the first medical exam, the report says that he suffers a left knee injury due to a valgus motion with the ligaments being affected. He will undergo imaging tests."
Atletico finished the match with nine men following red cards for both Filipe Luis and Diego Godin.
