Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez has revealed that he will continue to "work hard" in an attempt to secure a regular spot in Diego Simeone's first XI.
Gimenez made his first start of the season at the weekend as Atletico beat Espanyol 2-0 at the Vicente Calderon.
The Uruguayan is highly rated at the club, but has thus far struggled to break into the side due to the form of Miranda and Diego Godin, who are widely regarded as two of the best centre-backs in world football.
"I have two incredible teammates ahead of me and I can't say anything. I have to continue to grow, work hard in the training sessions to be ready when the coach thinks I have to play," Inside Spanish Football has quoted Gimenez as saying.
"I always try to be ready, then the coach will decide who plays. I need to be ready if I'm needed."
Gimenez played alongside Godin for his country at this summer's World Cup.
