Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has revealed his frustration after his team lost 2-1 at Sporting Gijon in La Liga on Saturday afternoon.
Victory for the capital outfit would have moved them to within five points of league leaders Barcelona and seven clear of third-placed Real Madrid, but Diego Simeone's side were undone at El Molinon.
Koke has insisted that his side were "fully prepared" to play another game after their Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday, but 'threw away' three vital points.
"We were fully prepared to play two games in a week, we had held up well. [But] we have thrown away three very important points in the fight for the title," Koke told reporters. "It makes it very difficult for us. We are still in contention. Barcelona face a very tough match against Villarreal."
Atletico will slip 11 points behind Barcelona if the Catalan outfit beat Villarreal on Sunday afternoon.
