Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has backed Jackson Martinez to hit the goal trail for the capital side after netting in Sunday's 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
Martinez struggled to settle in the early weeks of the season following a big-money move from Porto, but has now scored in each of his last two appearances for the Madrid giants.
Simeone is confident that the Colombian international will 'continue growing' at the Vicente Calderon as the season develops.
"[Jackson] is continuing his growth. He took his goal and had another chance. For those who said he hadn't been scoring, he's now scored in our last two games and I'm happy for him," Simeone told reporters.
Martinez, 29, scored 92 times in 132 appearances for Porto between 2012 and 2015 and has also netted 10 times for his country.
