Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has praised his team for their performance in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Valencia.
First-half strikes from Jackson Martinez and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco sent Atleti on their way to three points, but a late Paco Alcacer penalty made it an uncomfortable end for the hosts.
Simeone has claimed that his team should have won by a bigger margin, but was delighted with 'one of their best games in recent memory'.
"We had one of our best games in recent memory. From start to finish, we dominated the pitch, always won the second ball, played with profundity, created chances and made opponents like Valencia play on our terms," Simeone told reporters.
"It's a shame we only won 2-1 because the margin was too small in comparison with our performance."
Atletico are now just two points from La Liga leaders Real Madrid after nine games of the new campaign.
