Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has said that "individual talent" was a key factor in his team recording a 4-0 win over Celta Vigo at the weekend.
Atletico started the new La Liga campaign with back-to-back draws, but put their first three points on the board on Saturday afternoon as Antoine Griezmann scored twice in a four-goal victory for the Madrid outfit.
Simeone has insisted that the shape of his team did not change, rather the performance of individual players, which the Argentine believes was the deciding factor against a 'difficult' Celta team.
"The first half was very even but we grew in the second, and after Koke's goal, the team were strong, forceful and looked like doing damage on any attack. The goals followed this time, something that didn't happen in previous matches," Simeone told reporters.
"A goal frees you and creates you more [winning] situations. The structure of the team has been the same in all three games, the same as always. Then, from our individual talent, we try to strengthen that structure, and it went well [on Saturday].
"Celta aren't easy opponents as they continually reinvent themselves, but they came into the match with absences and the goal gave us the ability to read the game better. That encouraged us to have a great second half."
Atletico will begin their 2016-17 Champions League campaign with a Group D clash away to PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night.
