Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has praised Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto for his goal that ultimately ended the La Liga champion's unbeaten run at home in 2014.
Vietto popped up with the only goal of the game in the 84th minute to hand the visiting side victory, and Simeone was keen to congratulate the player, who he had originally handed a senior debut to when in charge of Argentine team Racing Club.
"They won the game doing a really good counter-attack with Vietto. I am so happy for him, but we lost an important game after a year without defeats at home," said Simeone, according to FourFourTwo.
"But I am so happy for him because he always showed a lot of skills and could do it.
"I think we lost the control of the game making some mistakes during the last 20 minutes just thinking about the victory."
The defeat sees Atletico sitting in third position in the La Liga table on 32 points.
