Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone reportedly agreed to remain at the Vicente Calderon this summer after informing club president Enrique Cerezo that he wants to sign Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain.
After losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last month, Simeone admitted that he would consider his future amid interest from former club Inter Milan and the Premier League.
It is understood that the Argentine will remain at Atletico, however, and according to Fichajes.net, that is with the understanding that the club will press for a marquee signing in this transfer window.
The same report claims that Higuain is Simeone's leading target, despite the fact that Diego Costa is keen on a return to the Spanish club two years after leaving for Chelsea.
Higuain, who has also been linked with Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, set a new Serie A goal record during the 2015-16 campaign by hitting 36 for Napoli.
