Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has said that the Spanish outfit are "very happy" with Sime Vrsaljko amid speculation that the defender is on the verge of joining Inter Milan.
Vrsaljko, who was a part of the Croatia team that reached the final of the 2018 World Cup, only signed a new long-term contract with Atletico in February, having impressed since arriving from Sassuolo in 2016.
The 26-year-old has been widely tipped to move on this summer, but Simeone is still hopeful that the right-back can be persuaded to remain at the Wanda Metropolitano.
"We're very happy with Sime," Simeone told reporters. "He had a very good World Cup, especially showing what he can do in attack and was decisive for his team.
"We are waiting for him to arrive on August 6 and after that we will see the needs of the club, I'm happy with what he's given us, he's an important player.
"The sporting management team handle singings above the point of talking about what we need during the season, it's difficult to talk about specific names.
"You have to be careful because they keep coming up and there are always rumours that some are leaving or others are coming, but I can't add anything."
Atletico have reportedly identified PSV Eindhoven's Santiago Arias as a possible replacement for Vrsaljko.
